Equipment

  • Baking Sheet or Pizza Stone
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula or Spoon
  • Pizza Cutter

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 pound Pizza dough Store bought or homemade
  • 1 teaspoon Olive oil For brushing dough

Toppings

  • 1 cup Whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Fresh blackberries Halved if large
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil leaves Torn
  • 1/2 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese Optional
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Optional drizzle
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic glaze Optional for serving
  • 1 pinch Salt To taste
  • 1 pinch Black pepper Freshly ground

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating for at least 20 minutes.
  • Stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12 inch circle about 1/4 inch thick. Transfer to parchment paper or a lightly floured pizza peel. Brush the surface lightly with olive oil.
  • In a small bowl, season the ricotta with salt and black pepper. Spread evenly over the dough, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
  • Scatter blackberries evenly across the ricotta. Sprinkle mozzarella lightly if using.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is set. Remove from oven and let rest for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Top with fresh torn basil. Drizzle with honey and balsamic glaze if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Drain ricotta if it appears watery to prevent a soggy crust. Do not overload with toppings. For a flatbread version, use naan or pita and bake at 425°F for 8 to 10 minutes. For grilling, cook one side of the dough first, flip, add toppings, and finish cooking with the lid closed.
