Fries Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes washed and cut into fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked turkey bacon crumbled
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons green onions sliced
- 1/4 cup jalapeños sliced, optional
- 1/4 cup cheese sauce optional
1. Prep the potatoes: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Wash the potatoes well, then cut them into even fries, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
2. Soak and dry: Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. Drain well, then dry the fries thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
3. Season the fries: Add the dried potatoes to a large bowl. Toss with olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper until the fries are evenly coated.
4. Bake until crisp: Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 15 minutes, flip the fries, then bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until golden and crisp.
5. Add the toppings: Remove the fries from the oven and immediately top with cheddar cheese and crumbled turkey bacon. Return the pan to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
6. Finish and serve: Top with sour cream, green onions, and jalapeños if using. Add cheese sauce if desired, then serve right away while the fries are hot and crisp.
Recipe Tips:
- Dry the potatoes very well before baking so they crisp instead of steam.
- Do not overcrowd the pan. Give the fries space so they can brown evenly.
- For the best texture, serve Loaded French Fries right after assembling.
- If you want extra crunch, use two pans instead of crowding one sheet.
Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For the best results, store the fries and toppings separately when possible.
Reheating: Reheat the fries in the oven at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes or in the air fryer at 350°F for 4 to 6 minutes. Add fresh toppings after reheating.
