  • 1.5 cups creamy peanut butter Ensure it's fully melted for even coating.
  • 5 cups Rice Chex Cereal This is the main crunchy base.
  • 1.5 cups mini pretzels, broken into pieces Use gluten-free pretzels for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 cups powdered sugar Expected to coat the mixture well.
  • 1.5 cups red and green M and Ms For decoration and sweetness.
  • 1 cup mini peanut butter cups Add for extra peanut butter flavor.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex cereal and broken pretzel pieces.
  • Melt the peanut butter and chocolate together. You can do this on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • Pour the melted peanut butter chocolate mixture over the cereal and pretzel mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.
  • Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until it just barely begins to set.
  • In another large bowl, place 1/2 cup of powdered sugar at the bottom.
  • Add half of the chilled mixture to the bowl, followed by another 1/2 cup of powdered sugar over the top.
  • Add the remaining mixture and gently stir until the powdered sugar coats the cereal evenly.
  • Chill the mixture again in the refrigerator for another 30 to 60 minutes until set.
  • Add more powdered sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, until the mixture is well coated.
  • Finally, add the M and Ms and mini peanut butter cups, stirring to combine.
  • Transfer the mix to a serving bowl and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 5 to 7 days.

Notes

Store your Reindeer Food in an airtight container at room temperature. It will stay fresh for about 5 to 7 days. If you prefer to keep it longer, consider refrigerating but it may lose its crispness. For a fun twist, try adding holiday-themed sprinkles.
